The Domkirkeodden Cathedral remnants Museum by Hamar is both a medieval museum and a folk museum. Most famous is the spectacular glass cathedral that protects the archway from the medieval church.
The Glass Cathedral is aninternationally famous piece of architecture and established as an attraction in itself. Inside the glass and steel construction the room is very atmospheric and the fine sound makes Hamardomen particularly suitable for concerts and other cultural experiences. The beautiful in and outdoor museum area with large, idyllic green areas by the lake also houses the ruins of the bishop's castle from the 13th century with a unique barn by designed by world famous architect Sverre Fehn, an extensive herb garden, an open-air folk museum with 60 old houses from the Hedemark region, the Kirsten Flagstad Museum (K.F was a world famous opera singer) and a nice museum restaurant with views of the sea, beach, playground and large park. Among constantly exciting exhibitions the museum organizes an annual Medieval Festival every June.
