The Flåm Railway

Flåmsbana is an attraction that people travel from all over the world to experience! From Hallingdal Holiday Park it is a wonderful day trip as the trip takes less than two hours to Flåm.

The train journey from Flåm Station in the innermost part of the Aurland Fjord, to Myrdal Station - high up in the mountain on the Bergen Railway, is no than 20 km long. However; it is one of the steepest train routes in the world, and it goes through some of the wildest and most magnificent parts of Norwegian nature. Watch rivers piercing through deep ravines, soaring mountains and cascading waterfalls, heights and peaks covered in snow, and mountain farms clinging to precipitous slopes.

With approx. 1 hour and 45 minutes to drive from the holiday park to Flåm station, it is a nice day trip to take the path to Myrdal, eat a good lunch at Café Rallaren or Myrdal Fjellstove, before again taking one of the world's steepest train trips down to Flåm. In the summer season the train can be sold out on several popular departure hours. We will therefore recommend you to buy two way tickets for Flåm-Myrdal in advance at vy.no.

Another tip is to set off early enough to have time for stoping by the Stegastein stunning view point. Its not a big detour and spectacularly worth it!
