The Hi Barn
Brumunddal is surrounded by forests and hills. If you look up at the hill, you can see the "Hei-barn".
During the debate over Norway joining the EU or not, the owner of the barn painted NEI = No (to the EU) in gigantic letters on the barn wall facing town. But one dark night a gang of young hoodlums repainted the first letter, so the message was transformed to HEI = Hi.
Rumour has it the guerrilla painters were sponsored by a local business man in favour of joining the EU. Norway never joined the EU, but the proprietor has a sense of humor and left the message of HEI on the wall. Over time, it has become a well known landmark on the hill above Brumunddal.
