At several farms around Lake Mjøsa, you can go for self-picking during the summer and fall seasons. In the fall, you can pick corn, apples, and enjoy a wide variety of local and farm-fresh foods available at both the farms and markets.

At Matfatet, located in the square in Brumunddal, you’ll find plenty of local produce, from potatoes and blackcurrant juice to meat products and eggs. Matfatet is often referred to as the region’s showcase for locally sourced food and is a must-visit when in the area.

Helgøya Climbing Park

On Helgøya, you can climb in what is known as Norway’s most beautiful climbing park. The park is equally fun for both adults and children, featuring nine courses, 13 ziplines, and a total of 142 climbing elements.

The outdoor area Mjøsparken is located by the shores of Lake Mjøsa in Brumunddal. Covering over 80,000 square meters, it includes a skating park, basketball court, volleyball court, playground, promenade, and a dining spot. Mjøsmuseet Museum

Mjøsmuseet is a cultural history museum with branches in Gjøvik, Toten, and Minnesund. It features over 100 historic buildings, several parks, cultural landscapes, as well as artifacts and photographs. Mjøsmuseet offers various guided tours, and you can visit one of their cafés to enjoy a meal in historic surroundings.

Hike with a View

The hike to Store Skjellingshovde offers an incredible view that you won't want to miss. The trail has an elevation gain of about 200 meters and is approximately 3 kilometers one way. At the top, there is a fire tower that provides panoramic views of forests and peaks. Head here to watch the sunset in the crisp fall weather — you won’t be disappointed.

There are plenty of fishing opportunities around Lake Mjøsa. Several rivers offer excellent fishing, and in Mjøsa itself, you can catch 20 different species of fish. Fishing in Mjøsa is free, and no fishing permit is required. Rod and hand line fishing are allowed year-round, including ice fishing. Just remember to familiarize yourself with the fishing regulations before you start.

Hamar

Hamar offers action, history, relaxation, and many dining options. Locals believe they are on the "right" side of Mjøsa due to the amount of sunlight. You can decide for yourself while strolling through the streets or visiting Domkirkeodden, which has been named one of the world’s most beautiful museums.

Hamar also features a sauna boat, the Skibladner paddle steamer, and the Viking Ship Arena.
