Mandal has a charming old town where white wooden houses line up in narrow streets. The city has many cozy niche shops, and there are several pleasant places to sit down when hunger strikes. You'll find numerous outdoor dining spots offering everything from burgers and pizza to seafood and delightful baked goods.
3. Lindesnes Lighthouse
Lindesnes Lighthouse on the "Southern Cape" is the third most visited attraction in Vest-Agder, after Kristiansand Zoo and the indoor waterpark Sørlandsbadet. In fact, around 80,000 people visit Norway's southernmost mainland point each year.
The view around the tower is spectacular! Lindesnes Lighthouse is equally impressive in bright sunshine as when the forces of nature flex their muscles. Make sure to catch the sunset from the beautiful mountain plateau.
4. Beautiful View from Uranienborg
Make sure you don't miss Uranienborg when you're in Mandal. The hike up is not long, taking around ten minutes.
From the city center, near the SMOI restaurant, you ascend a staircase and continue up a hill until you reach the small summit and the viewpoint, Uranienborg. It's a beautiful observation gazebo with a view overlooking the entire Mandal, Furulunden, and the archipelago.
During the era of sailing ships, this lookout point was where wives and children climbed to spot their husbands and fathers when the ships returned to Mannefjorden.
5. Exciting RIB tour in the Archipelago
Looking for an experience in the archipelago that's a bit out of the ordinary? Tregde Ferie offers RIB (Rigid Inflatable Boat) tours in the archipelago. The age limit is 12 years, and children between 12 and 16 years can only participate accompanied by a guardian. Advance registration is necessary. Remember to dress for a trip on the sea. Life jackets are available for borrowing upon arrangement.
6. Idyll at Risøbank Manor
Risøbank Manor is a former kerosene oil factory located in the heart of Furulunden, built for Lord Edward Salvesen from Edinburgh. The state purchased Risøbank in 1969 and opened the areas to the public. Throughout history, the place has inspired both artists and individuals in business and politics to make important decisions. Today, it operates as a summer café, art gallery, and event venue. They also host concerts and exhibitions. The property features a large English garden with a picturesque greenhouse and an impressive collection of shrubs and trees.
