7 Fall Experiences at Hafjell

From Hafjell, you can experience stunning nature, family parks, and Lillehammer.

1. Great Hiking Areas

In the beautiful nature surrounding Hafjell, you'll find mountains and hiking trails, excellent ski tracks, fishing lakes, and the stunning, turquoise-colored Gudbrandsdalslågen river. There are many opportunities to spend time outdoors. The mountainous landscape of Rondane National Park and the lush surroundings of Lake Mjøsa are also just a short drive away.

Høgberget offers an impressive view of the valley and the river. You can hike there directly from Topcamp Rustberg. There are also several great ski trails in the area when the snow falls.

2. Lilleputthammer

Lilleputthammer, the miniature version of downtown Lillehammer, is specially designed for children up to 9 years old. It is referred to as "the little town with the big heart." There are train rides, boats, a roller coaster, and much more for children to explore.

3. Children's Farm

The area around Hafjell and Lillehammer is filled with fun family parks.

One of them is Children's Farm (Barnas Gård), which is part of Hunderfossen Family Park. This is a petting farm for all animal lovers. You can meet 160 animals of 20 different species. You can feed and pet the animals, drive off-road vehicles, and play in the climbing course.

Children's Farm is open during the fall break, weeks 40 and 41.

4. The Norwegian Road Museum

At the Norwegian Road Museum, you can learn about how roads came to be, who built them, and how they have been used throughout history. The Norwegian Tunnel Museum and the Norwegian Vehicle History Museum are also part of the Road Museum.

It is a family-friendly museum with many fun activities.

5. Bike Park og Alpine Center

Experience Hafjell on two wheels. Hafjell Bike Park takes you and your bike up into the beautiful mountain landscape by lift. They are leaders in the country for lift-assisted biking. There are 19 trails with varying levels of difficulty. There are also several exciting cycling opportunities in the Øyer mountains. You can rent different types of bikes from the park.

Hafjell Alpine Center offers the perfect setup for alpine adventures in a snowy landscape.

6. Lillehammer

Lillehammer boasts one of Norway's finest pedestrian streets and shopping areas, with its old wooden buildings serving as the town's main artery. The town is known for its unique and charming city center. You'll find a wide selection of modern and exciting shops, great cafés and restaurants, as well as a vibrant cultural scene with galleries, museums, and many exciting events.

The town is a popular destination for both Norwegian and international tourists, especially after the 1994 Winter Olympics, but also due to the famous TV series Lilyhammer.

7. Rondane National Park

Take a day trip to Norway’s first national park. In the fall, the colors explode, and the landscape becomes wild and beautiful. Hike in the mountains, visit mountain lodges, or go waterfall hunting. Brudesløret, Ulafossene, and Vesleulfossen are recommended waterfalls.
