7 Fall Experiences in Nesna
Nesna offers the best of the Helgeland coast. Be enchanted by magnificent nature experiences.
1. Island Hopping
We highly recommend island hopping among the Nesna islands. The scheduled boat service easily takes you between the islands, or you can join a RIB tour. Island hopping to these beautiful islands is an amazing experience.
You can also explore a broader horizon of Helgeland. Hop on the ferry routes to visit islands like Lovund, Træna, Rødøy, Myken, and Støtt.
2. Summit Hikes
The mountains of Helgeland are not only majestic to look at but also offer powerful hiking experiences. Kjølen is easily accessible and provides a scenic hike. The mountain ridge resembles an overturned boat keel, and it's speculated that this may be the origin of its name.
Rødvika on Tomma is also a great hike with a beautiful beach. You can reach Tomma by the scheduled boat service.
From Hannkamsletta, you get a lovely view of Nesna and the surrounding area.
3. Nesna from the Sea
The Helgeland coast is even more spectacular from the sea. A kayak tour is an equally amazing experience year-round.
Set out on a journey, immersed in nature. Listen to the silence and the sound of the waves as you paddle from one white sandy beach to the next, with the mountains in the background.
4. Snorkeling
Did you know there are several places in the area where you can snorkel? You’ll need a wetsuit, or even a drysuit. But there are plenty of exciting things to see in the waters around Nesna.
Put on your suit and take your snorkeling gear for an exciting underwater adventure.
5. Northern Lights Hunting
From September to April, there are often good opportunities to see the Northern Lights in Helgeland. However, your chances of seeing them are best if you plan ahead. Keep an eye on the aurora forecast, and try to get to a higher elevation away from city lights. This will provide the best setting for a spectacular show.
6. Beer Tasting
Raus Brewery is located right by the ferry terminal in Nesna. The brewery started in the spring of 2019 and produces beer from the Helgeland coast.
They offer beer tastings and tours, a fun activity for those who enjoy beer or good drinks in general.
7. The Zhal Trading House
The old Zahl business building is now Nesna Museum. The museum is located right by the town center. This is where the Zahl family conducted their business and lived for most of the 20th century. The oldest part of the building dates back to 1907.
The museum also includes the old school building, Klokkergården, from 1823.
Nesna Museum hosts temporary exhibitions, various events, and celebrations throughout the year.
