4 Fall Experiences in Ringerike
Fall is beautiful in Ringerike! Explore the best the region has to offer, with activities and experiences for the whole family.
1. Art and Architecture at Kistefos Museum
At Kistefos Museum, industry, sculpture, and architecture come together in a unique way. It’s a must-see when you’re in the area. Notably, you can view the world-renowned "The Twist." In 2020, the museum received the "Tripadvisor’s Traveller’s Choice" award, which is given to the top ten percent of attractions worldwide according to Tripadvisor. The museum features playgrounds, a sculpture park, and a fountain where you can watch the water shoot upwards.
2. Shopping and Good Food at Hadeland Glassverk
Hadeland Glassverk is a beautiful shopping center with various activities. You can try glassblowing, which is a really exciting experience for both adults and children. Additionally, there are several shopping opportunities with ten stores and six dining options. There are different activities throughout the year, and Hadeland Glassverk is also a lovely place to simply stroll around and explore.
3. Hikes with Stunning Views
There are many great hikes in the area. One of the most popular hikes is Mørkgonga. The trail can be challenging in some spots, but the view from the top is well worth the effort. Be careful with parking, as the parking facilities in the area are not the best.
Another popular hike is Kongens Utsikt, where you can overlook the region. You can start from Sundvolden Hotel, which takes two to three hours, or you can drive up to Kleivstua and hike from there. The hike from Kleivstua is very family-friendly and takes just under 30 minutes one way. An even shorter hike is Dronningens Utsikt, which is in the same area. The view is still great, just not as spectacular! Both locations are fantastic for sunset views.
If you prefer easier hikes or strolling, Elvelangs in Hønefoss is a hidden gem. The trail goes from Benterud to Hovsenga and is around 7.5 kilometers long. The path passes by recreational areas like Schjongslunden, Petersøya, and Hovsenga, where it's nice to sit down for a coffee. There are also several benches along the trail where you can enjoy the autumnal landscape.
4. The Business Park That Has It All
A business park might not sound like the most exciting place to visit, but wait until you hear about Helgelandsmoen Business Park. Here, you'll find Ringeriksbadet, which features several pools, a diving tower, and water slides. Right next door, you have Norway's toughest Boot Camp course.
Thomas Klevjer runs his gallery in the building next to the old exhibition hall. Gallery Klevjer showcases his own works as well as those of major Norwegian artists like Per Spook and Odd Nerdrum.
The business park also hosts several second-hand stores and other activities.
The area is an excellent hiking spot. Helgelandsmoen was a military camp from 1868 until 2001, and you can still see traces of military activity.
