Discover the magic of winter at Lake Mjøsa and in Brumunddal! Whether you strap on skis or prefer to experience the snowy landscape in other ways, a range of activities awaits to create cozy moments and lasting memories.

Cross-country skiing at Vollkoia

Each winter, over 800 kilometers of ski trails are groomed in Ringsaker. The Brumunddal and Omegn Tourist Trails maintain routes from the Vollkoia area into the Hedmarksvidda plateau. This gentle natural area features an extensive network of trails, perfect for both beginners and seasoned skiers.

Recommended Route:

After your adventure, warm up in the cozy cafés of Brumunddal’s town center.

Horse-drawn sleigh rides

A sleigh ride is a magical experience, especially as dusk falls and torches illuminate the snowy forest while bells jingle softly in the stillness. The rides, conducted on both sleds and wheeled wagons, take you along quiet forest roads near Brumunddal with minimal traffic. Cozy fur blankets and throws keep you warm, and drinks are served during the ride, included in the price.

The journey lasts about an hour, and the largest sleigh accommodates up to 8 people. Each ride is exclusive to your group, making it an intimate and memorable experience.

Mjøsbadet in Brumunddal

Mjøsbadet is a modern indoor swimming facility connected to Mjøstårnet – the world’s tallest wooden building.

It features a main pool certified for competitions, a therapy pool, two saunas, four main changing rooms, and three accessible changing rooms. Perfect for a relaxing day out, regardless of the weather.

Dog sledding

Dog sledding typically starts in early December, with routes of about 6 kilometers. The trail winds through crooked pine trees, scenic viewpoints, and open marshlands in the communal forests. It’s a fantastic experience for families and anyone seeking a shorter, less demanding adventure.

You can choose to drive the sled yourself or ride along as a passenger. If you'd like, you can even switch roles during the journey, ensuring everyone gets the thrill of mushing.

Ice skating in Mjøsparken

Mjøsparken is a year-round gem, but it’s especially enchanting in winter. Glide across the ice with your skates or take a stroll along the picturesque Mjøsa Promenade.
