The stunning nature around Mosjøen provides the backdrop for many incredible fall experiences.

1. A Sporty Experience in the Helgeland Stairs

3000 steps up the mountain offer a fantastic hike. The stairs were built by Nepali Sherpas and rise 818 meters in elevation. It takes between two and three hours to reach the top, and you have a constant view of Mosjøen town.

As you approach the top, you get a panoramic view of all the mountains in the area, and on a clear day, you can see all the way to the Seven Sisters in Sandnessjøen.

2. Out of Your Comfort Zone with Via Ferrata

Hi North organizes Norway’s northernmost Via Ferrata trail in Mosjøen. Via Ferrata is a climbing route where you are secured by a cable. The trail features natural steps and grips, so no prior climbing experience is necessary. However, it can still be challenging, and there is a minimum age requirement of 12 years. The trail is 400 meters long and ascends 660 meters in elevation. The adventure begins at the Helgeland Stairs.

The experience almost guarantees a thrill, excitement, and a sense of accomplishment — along with an incredible view if the weather cooperates. Hi North only organizes tours by request in September and October.

3. A Thrilling Zipline Experience

Get a real adrenaline rush and a rare stomach-drop sensation. The zipline runs from Storfjellet to the end of Sjøgata. It is 700 meters long and offers a fast-paced, airy experience.

Throughout the ride, you have a view of the fjord and Mosjøen. You are securely fastened with a harness before you soar away. The zipline features an automatic braking system, ensuring a safe and secure flying experience.

The zipline is organized by Hi North. Operating hours in September and October are on select weekends or by request.

4. Culture and History in Sjøgata

The charming, well-preserved old wooden district is Mosjøen's main tourist attraction. Sjøgata boasts the longest continuous row of 19th-century wooden buildings in Northern Norway.

The street is bustling with activity, offering dining, shopping, museums, galleries, art exhibitions, antiques, festivals, and much more. Sjøgata is not just a museum or a nostalgic backdrop, but a vibrant and integral part of Mosjøen's town center.

5. A Unique Experience with Cave Exploring

Exploring Øyfjell Cave takes you into the dark and unknown. Øyfjell Cave is a 500-meter-long limestone cave. It's an experience a bit out of the ordinary!

Inside the cave, there is an underground river and narrow sections where you should expect to do some crawling.

The tour is suitable for most people and takes about 3 hours. You will be provided with a coverall, helmet, headlamp, and gloves.

Cave tours are organized by Hi North.

6. Northern Lights Hunting

From September to April, there are often good opportunities to see the Northern Lights in Helgeland. However, the chances of seeing them are best if you plan ahead. Keep an eye on the Northern Lights forecast, and try to get to higher ground and away from city lights. This will provide the best setting for a great show.

7. Water Experiences

At BUA Equipment Center, you can rent SUP boards, kayaks, and other equipment for water activities. It’s definitely worth seeing Jacobsenbrygga and Sjøgata in fall colors from the water, or paddling past the majestic Øyfjellet. Remember to dress warmly!

8. Family Rafting in Trofors

Take the family rafting through exciting rapids with Rivernorth Rafting.

You’ll raft either in Svenningelva or Auster-Vefna, depending on the water level. You can also try a swim in the river.

The tour lasts 3.5 hours, and the minimum age is 6 years.

The water slide is 37 meters long and has a timing system. The 25-meter pool is maintained at 28°C, while the children’s pool and therapy pool are at 34°C.
